Project: critical thought on Japanese, society, people and culture.

*correct me if i wrote the wrong info and here i apologize if this post is inappropriate and offending.

In certain aspect like best work attitude, Japanese top my list. while, in the aspect of sexual, I think Japanese people are really open minded about it. For example, I used to read on the internet about prostitution among teenage girls in Japan (enjo kosai). Some articles say that this practice is common among the highschool girls in big cities especially. There are several dramas that portray this lifestyle of theirs. Perhaps life in big metropolis city like Tokyo is more stressful and complicated compared to ours.

Besides that, there are also Love Hotel which I got to know about in the drama Stand up! Where in this drama, I was exposed to the love and sex life of teenagers. ( I actually think that the design of those hotels are really cool which indirectly shows how great Japanese is at architecture and inventions.) Back to the drama, they discussed openly about sex and virginity which are still taboos in Malaysia. I find that this is a cultural shock to me because I used to assume that only Western countries are that open minded in this case. The drama was an eye opener to me.

Besides, I once read about panties fetishism where highschool girls sell off their worn and unwashed panties to a store (burusera) that sell the panties to those men who have panties fetish. There were even vending machines which sell those panties but I think this thing has been banned and the girls replaced by new method. ( click the link on panties fetishism to learn more). This sounds a bit ridiculous to me but who knows, it might happen here too just that we're not doing it publicly while the Japanese are more open about it. This is the difference between developing and developed country. Culture shock i may get, but anyway, i am from a conservative country so, it's not surprising if i am a little freaked out. Actually, although this whole thing might sounds perverted, there is actually a good side of it. Dont you think that Japanese are innovative and creative?

just like what they do with their fashion.

Harajuku style, ganguro, yamanba, and so on never fail to amuse me. I mean, look at them, u have to give them credit for the effort and their bravery. honestly, i secretly adore the hime (princess) style. Not forgetting, the para-para or some sort of dance they did in groups in public? There are one question though, are they accepted among the society? Well, as i know, western people kind of look upon this fashion and style. Remember Gwen Stefani with her song Harajuku Girls? and i remember seeing a lot of videos online on western people dancing and making up like the girls.

My opinion is , through fashion or invention, i found that Japanese people are very creative and dare to be different. Japanese people are the one who lead and not the one who follow, a phenomenon which can be seen in a lot of field such as in technology. This is such an unique trait possessed by the Japanese. Their wacky and out of the norm style actually bring them out and to the top of the world.Only in Japan, the dark side can actually turn out to be a good one. like the panties machine.
